PINECREST, TN (WLAF) – The call of a dock on fire just after 11 pm was answered by the Campbell County Rural Fire Service on Saturday night at Shown Hollow off Pinecrest Road.  One official stated that upon arrival, crews realized that it was a boat on fire rather than a dock.  Given the lay of the land, it was a difficult battle though firefighters were able to extinguish the fire around 2 am Sunday morning.

The initial report was called in by someone who was across Norris Lake from the fire thinking it was someone’s personal dock that was burning.  The boat had run aground just down from a dock according to one firefighter. The TWRA was brought in on the case.

Sometime later, a woman called in reporting that her husband had not returned home from fishing.  The TWRA. matching the boat to the missing fisherman, was on the case all night, and at safe light, search teams were deployed to the area.

Water operations using sonar are taking place at this hour.  Agencies working the search are the TWRA, the rescue squads of Anderson County, Jellico and La Follette, along with the CCRFS and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/18/2020-4:30PM)
