P. Gene Walters, age 79 of LaFollette, TN passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020 at home. He loved God, his church, and family. Gene was born September 19, 1941 in Westbourne, TN to the late Herbert and Alfa Walters. He was employed at A&P Food Chain from 1958 through 1990, where he retired as a district manager. He was also the co-owner of Walter’s Produce in LaFollette, TN. Gene also served his country and was a Vietnam Veteran, were he served as a medic. He was an active fisherman who was known as “Blade” in the fishing tournaments that he participated in.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister Francis and brothers Herbert Ray and Luther.

He is survived by daughter Regina Asbury and husband Andy Asbury of Knoxville, TN; granddaughter Abigail Asbury Whitten and husband Doug Whitten of Knoxville, TN; grandson Andy Asbury Jr. of Knoxville, TN; wife of 25 years Wilma Walters of Knoxville, TN; brothers Leo Walters of Chesness, SC and Jeff Walters of Eagan, TN; sisters Elizabeth Branch of Louisville KY, Gloria Cosgrove of Louisville, KY, Rita Burik and husband Steve of Richmond, KY, Dotsy Walters of Eagan, TN, and Kathy Jones and husband Jeff of London, KY; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends, neighbors, and church family.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 11, 2020 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM in the Chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home, with funeral services to follow at 6:00 PM with Rev. Cecil Johnson and Rev. Eddie Johnson officiating. The Family and friends will meet on Monday, October 12, 2020 at Leachland Family Cemetery in Eagan, TN for a 1:00 PM interment with Military Honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
