LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A regular at the Campbell County Jail, 37-year- old Amanda Kay Parker, used some creativity in an attempt to keep a deputy from conducting a traffic stop.  RELATED STORY.At 3:40 am on Sept. 24, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Timothy Powers noticed a silver Lexus SUV traveling on the four lane with its lights off.  Just as Powers was learning from E-911 Dispatch that the Lexus registration was expired, dispatch received a call from a female caller on a mobile phone reporting a wreck on Towe String Road near the Indian River Marina turnoff.

As the traffic stop was being conducted, an ambulance and two officers were dispatched to Towe String Road to locate the wreck.  It was not located.

Powers made the traffic stop.  Upon further investigation, Parker, the passenger, willingly advised that she had called 911 to report the wreck to try and keep Powers from stopping the SUV, according to the report.

Parker was placed under arrest for the 42nd time.  She was charged in this arrest with abuse of 911 and filing a false report. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED- 10/5/20- 6AM)

  1. As I read the news on WLAF most mornings, I continually see people that have been arrested multiple times. I dont think after 42 arrests that this person is going to stop criminal activity. This is very concerning to me, there are lots of young people in this county and we need to protect them better. BEING ARRESTED 42 TIMES IS UNACCEPTABLE.
