LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Powell Valley Marina is where volunteers will gather Saturday morning at 9 am for a trash and litter material clean-up of the lake and shoreline above and below Norris Lake at the marina.  The clean up runs until 1 pm.  Weather will be near perfect for Saturday’s event.

“After all the flooding rains, our beautiful lake that we use and enjoy needs our help getting material that washed  out and had been thrown into it out of it and put back to its majestic beauty again,” Campbell County Litter Control Officer Glennis Monday said.

“Boats to haul volunteers, pick up tools, trash bags, trucks to haul material from boats, garbage containers, gloves and lunch will be provided,” said Keisha Howard, Campbell County Litter Control Coordinator.  She also said T-shirts and masks will be provided while the supply lasts.  Monday added, “Anyone wanting to use their own boat is welcome to do so, and social distancing will be practiced.”

Volunteers at a a trash and litter material clean-up of Norris Lake and its shoreline in October 2018.

“Anglers, tubers, pleasure boaters, jet skiers or anyone who uses and loves our lake or anyone who wants to make a difference are encouraged to come out and help volunteer,” Monday said. For students needing Tennessee Promise Hours this is a great and fun way to earn those hours, he said.

The clean up is sponsored by the Norris Lake Project Team, TVA and Campbell County Litter Control.
