LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – WLAF is continuing it’s salute to Campbell County teachers with a shout-out to all of the hardworking educators. This week, seventh grade World History Teacher Brooke Goddard is being featured. Goddard teaches at LaFollette Middle School. This is her third year teaching. She has also taught sixth, seventh and eighth grade Social Studies all three years as well.

Goddard said she is “passionate about what she teaches” and wants to “impact students’ lives in a positive and meaningful way.”

“I’ve always loved history, and I want my students to see that Social Studies doesn’t have to be boring,” Goddard said.

Her favorite part about teaching is that it’s not “your typical 9-5 day job.”  “It is an ever-changing, exciting and adventurous career that isn’t for the faint of heart. I love that you can start each day anew, and it allows me to express creativity all while sharing my passion for the content.”

With all the unique challenges faced by teachers in 2020, especially with the pandemic, Goddard said there have been multiple positives.   One of those “big positives” is in the form of support from her co-workers.  “I’ve grown so much closer with my colleagues this year.  My seventh grade team is such a strong support group of co-workers that are like family to me, and I am so grateful that we all have the same mentality when it came to making 2020 work for us,” Goddard said.

She said she has even enjoyed the challenge that online teaching has brought this year.  “It has allowed me an opportunity outside of my comfort zone in technology that I wouldn’t normally get to have.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/10/2020-6AM)

  1. I whole heartedly agree that she has earned this honor..
I saw the marvelous classroom where a student would learn just from the sitting in the room.
She wore her “judge’s” robe with her gavel when teaching the judicial system. She came dressed on occasion in something that fitted the history lesson being taught. Ahh, such fun to watch.
