LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – A flurry of activity this morning at La Follette City Hall ended with the arrest  La Follette Mayor Mike Stanfield.

According to Campbell County Jail records, at 11:09 am Thursday morning, Stanfield was brought to the jail by Campbell County Sheriff’s Sgt.  Joe Hopson along with agents with the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI).

The mayor is charged with official misconduct, retaliate for past report to the comptroller and misrepresenting information to the state auditor.

Stanfield’s bond is set at $2,500, and he is currently awaiting the arrival of a bail bondsman to be released.

Stanfield is in his third term as mayor and is seeking a fourth term. He doesn’t face an opponent in the race. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/03/2020-NOON)
