A dead black bear was discovered in Campbell County on May 1.

WHITE OAK, TN (WLAF) -It’s been four months today since a black bear was found shot to death at White Oak, and there are still no leads in the case.  Campbell County based Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency Wildlife Officer Brenden Marlow said, “There are no leads.  I’m surprised no one hasn’t called with any info.”

Marlow (above) said, “The public’s tips are a MUST in protecting our state’s wildlife.  Please give me a call at 615-571-4792 with any information.  All calls will remain anonymous.

The Pine Mountain Longbeards Chapter of the NWTF-Tennessee is offering a $500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for killing the bear.

Marlow responded to the call about a dead bear on the morning of Friday, May 1.  Marlow arrived on the scene that Friday at 10:30 am and located the black bear.  He said, “It was right there behind the dumpsters.”  That was at the White Oak convenience center on Davis Creek Road.

Officers examined the animal and determined the 400-pound bear had been shot with a large caliber firearm. They collected shell casings from the scene.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 05/11/2020-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF THE TWRA-UPDATED – 05/28/2020-6AM-UPDATED-09/01/2020-6AM)
