Ryan Blake Turpin, age 35, passed away Monday, August 3, 2020, on his way to New York to assist in the repair of utility outages after Hurricane Isaias.  Ryan was born July 23, 1985.  He was currently living with his brother Christopher in Pennsylvania.  He was so looking forward to returning from this job to spend some special time with his precious children.

He graduated from Campbell County High School and received a golf scholarship to LMU.  He was blessed with different employment trades and learning from each.

Ryan professed his Baptist faith and truly loved the Lord.  He enjoyed playing golf, basketball, riding his bike for miles, running, working out and reading his Bible.  He was a very athletic individual.

Preceded in death by his Papaw, Claude D. Wilson.

Ryan is survived by his two beautiful children, Hunter Bradley Turpin and Blake Marie Turpin.  Mother, Michelle T. Turpin of Powell; Father, William S. (Bill) Turpin and Misty of Elizabethton, brother and best friend, Christopher Tait Blackwell of Pennsylvania.  Grandparents, Rosalind K. Sharp and step grandfather, David E. Sharp of Knoxville;  Bill and Joyce Leach of Speedwell;  Uncle William Douglas Wilson of La Follette; Aunts Carla Stanley of Speedwell and Joanna Walters of Kingsport.  Several cousins, Christian Wilson of La Follette; Zayland D. Wilson of Powell; Gabe Hayley and Jonica Stanley of Speedwell and Chris, Beth Ann and Nick Walters of Kingsport.  Ryan was additionally blessed with many good friends and great aunts and uncles.

Ryan had indicated numerous times of wanting to share his hereafter by donating his organs to the Gift of Life.  He was blessed with this great opportunity to pay it forward and many blessings will be fulfilled by his gracious kind spirit.  This was how Ryan always was throughout his life, a very quiet kind soul.

There will be a Celebration of Life – Graveside service at the Powell Valley Cemetery and Memorial Gardens at 206 Henson Lane in La Follette, Tennessee 37766.  That is Sunday, August 16, 2020, at 2 pm.  Friends and loves ones are welcome.

  1. I had the privilege of knowing Ryan for a few short months. He was a quiet, gentle person that I will remember. He loved his children and always was quick to bring out pictures to share. Ryan will be missed by many.
