JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The Campbell County Board of Education meets Thursday afternoon to vote on its 2020-21 budget.  The meeting begins at 5 pm in the lower level courtroom of the Campbell County Courthouse.

In a special called meeting on Tuesday, the board voted on its budget for the new fiscal year and did not have enough votes to pass it.  The board of 10 must have at least six votes to approve its budget.

Tuesday night, six board members attended the meeting with a seventh, Noah Smith, participating via Zoom. Board members Crystal Creekmore, Faye Heatherly and Steve Morgan were unable to attend the meeting.

When the vote was taken only five members voted in favor of the budget; Johnny Byrge, Lisa Fields, Josh James, Brent Lester and Noah Smith.  Board members Ronnie Lasley and Jeffrey Miller voted no with each wanting more time to review the budget.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/09/2020-6AM
