CARYVILLE, TN (WLAF) – A Caryville man single-handedly created a traffic jam on Highway 116 Saturday evening.

Campbell County Sergeant Nathanial Bostic was dispatched to just south of Caryville on Highway 116 near the Little Cove Creek Road construction area.

The Sergeant spoke with a woman at the scene who told him, according to the report, that she and Michael Adam Butler were traveling south on Highway 116 in a 2003 black four door Saturn and were involved in a verbal altercation.  She went on to say that Butler reached and grabbed the keys out of the ignition, exited the car and ran up into the woods.  As a result, the car was sitting in the middle of the road hindering the flow of traffic.

Bostic caught up with Butler.  The Sergeant writes in his report that Butler was unsteady on his feet and he could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Butler.

During the pat down, as Bostic was placing Butler under arrest, he located a bottle of Vodka in Butler’s right front pocket. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/01/2020-6AM)
