Donations needed for DCS foster parent gift baskets

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – TN Kids Belong is calling for gift basket donations for local DCS foster parents.

According to Kristin Miller with TN Kids Belong, DCS had to cancel the annual foster parent appreciation event for the East Region due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The East region includes 169 foster parents in Anderson, Campbell, Loudon, Monroe, Morgan, Roane, Scott and Union Counties.

To make up for the lack of an appreciation event, organizers are putting together 169 baskets/ goody bags from the community to say thank you, according to Miller. Donations are needed by Tuesday July 7.

“This is for DCS foster parents only. They just want to show all the local DCS foster parents that they are appreciated,” said Nelsie Wooden, who is chair of the local DCS community advisory board.

If you would like to donate towards a gift card, or items for gift baskets, you can send the money to TN Kids Belong and 100% will go back to the foster parents.
