NASHVILLE, TN. (WLAF)-  This year, Tennesseans will have two tax free weekends. Last week, the General Assembly approved the sales tax holiday expansion in the state budget.

Tennessee lawmakers created a second sales tax holiday to accompany the one usually reserved for back-to-school items. Parents can shop and save on back-to-school items during the regular tax free weekend on July 31 through Aug. 2 at 11:59 pm.

The price limit on eligible items related to education doubles in 2020. The limit on clothing and school supplies is now $200 or less, and the limit for computers and televisions jumps to $3,000.

The weekend of August 7 through 9, there will be no sales tax on food and drink at restaurants.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/26/2020-6AM)
