LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Deputy John Minor responded to a car accident on Bethlehem Road on April 18. When he arrived, he found the driver of the vehicle, Melissa Renae Pistello unsteady on her feet and had slurred speech.   Minor also noticed her pupils were pinpoint and failed to react to light. Pistello told Minor that she had taken Suboxone earlier in the day but nothing else, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department.

After a series of field sobriety tests, Pistello was arrested and transported to the jail. Upon arrival at the jail, Minor noticed Pistello, who was cuffed, attempting to push something into the backseat. When Pistello was removed from the vehicle, three pills were in the seat where she was sitting. One pill was blue and appeared to be a half Xanax while the other two were white and appeared to be Gabapentin according to the report.

Pistello, 45, 397 Chapman Village Lane, LaFollette is charged with driving under the influence (DUI) and possession of schedule IV-controlled substance. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/30/2020-6AM)
