LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Just before 2pm on Wednesday afternoon, strong winds blew a tree down falling across Towe String Road and stopping traffic in its tracks.

A crew with the Campbell County Road Department was quickly on the scene working to remove the tree.

The road was blocked just up the road from the La Follette Mine Supply.

It took the crew about fifteen minutes to clear the tree from the road and to clean up the mess.  The Campbell County Sheriff’s Department handled traffic control on both sides of the tree.

“A lot of traffic was forced to stop, and I appreciate their patience while we worked as quickly as we could to reopen Towe String,” said Campbell County Road Superintendent Ron Dilbeck.  Towe String Road handles 3,000 vehicles a day according to county statistics.  WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/29/2020-2:15PM-PHOTO COURTESY OF ROAD SUPERINTENDENT RON DILBECK)
