LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Speeding spends a LaFollette man to jail. On April 18, Campbell County Deputy John Minor was on routine patrol on old Hwy 63 at Fincastle and saw a red Pontiac Grand Am traveling at a high rate of speed.   Minor was able to get a radar on the car that showed he was traveling at 57 mph in a 40-mph zone. When Minor stopped the vehicle and approached it, he noticed a strong smell of marijuana coming from inside the Grand Am. The car was driven by Joshua Keith Wilson.  He was alleged to have glassy blood shot eyes and appeared extremely nervous. When Wilson was asked if there was anything illegal inside the car he said “no.”  Minor told the him he could smell marijuana, and he allegedly replied that he had smoked marijuana earlier in the day.

When asked why the vehicle’s tags came back to a different vehicle, Wilson said he had not gotten the Grand Am registered.  He told Minor that he did not have insurance on the Grand Am according to the report.

A search of the vehicle revealed a green leafy substance under the passenger seat believed to be marijuana. Wilson’s passenger, Robert Ward, stated the marijuana was his and was cited for possession of marijuana.

Wilson, 18, 919 S 13th Street, LaFollette is charged with driving under the influence (DUI), speeding, violation of TN financial law and violation registration law.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/29/2020-6AM)
