NASHVILLE, TN (WLAF) –  Campbell County has been chosen to participate in the Tennessee Property Evaluation Program (PEP), an aggressive economic development program operated by the Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development. The program is aimed at improving local industrial sites.

“This program works to improve our local industrial sites so we are job ready,” said Sen.  Ken Yager.  “As our economy is reopened, we want to take advantage of every available program to give our citizens new job opportunities.   I congratulate our local officials for submitting a successful application to participate in the program with only four counties across the state being selected to participate during this round of applications.  We were happy to support these efforts and look forward to seeing the results it will bring to Campbell County.”

Since its inception in 2015, PEP has helped improve the inventory of industrial sites and buildings across Tennessee. The program evaluates potential industrial properties, advising counties on industrial site improvements and where investments may be most beneficial.  PEP originated from TNECD’s Select Tennessee Certified Site Program. With assistance from site selection firm Austin Consulting, PEP provides participating counties with guidance on site planning for future industrial development projects.  PEP program assessments also offers recommendations to improve marketability.

“This is great news for our community. This program will help strengthen economic development in Campbell County and promote job creation for our workforce as we work to reboot our economy,” said Rep. Dennis Powers. “I appreciate the efforts of our local officials and economic development leaders working to promote and advance industry and development in Campbell County.”   (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/23/2020-6AM)
