LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – ROTECH in LaFollette is ready with a variety of medical equipment and oxygen needs during this pandemic.  In response to the Covid-19 situation, ROTECH has taken steps to increase its respiratory equipment inventory including vents, oxygen equipment and nebulizers.

The company offers a wide variety of services for patients from oxygen set ups to CPAP machines to afflo vests to wheel chairs, hospital beds, wound care and more.  Rotech is the only durable medical equipment company in town and the surrounding area that accepts all insurances except VA  and is a preferred source for Humana plans.
WLAF caught up with Ray (left) and Starla Baird Berry  (right) as they were recently visiting with some of the medical professionals at the La Follette Medical Center.  Baird, a wound therapy specialist, is also Rotech’s sales leader.
Starla Baird-Berry with Rotech said the company wants to assure the public that it is ready to handle an increase in vents for hospital discharges and also inpatient facility use. When news of the virus began spreading, ROTECH began stockpiling oxygen and supplies to be “100-percent ready” for their patients.
“We want Campbell County and surrounding counties to know they have someone here working for them. We’re ready with the medical equipment should the need arise,” Baird-Berry said.

According to Baird-Berry, two new diagnosis codes have been passed for patients who need oxygen as a result of the Covid-19 virus.
This was passed on March 13 and put into play on March 14 for future patients; it has to be a new diagnosis before insurance will approve.
“These are two big things that the CDC, the President and insurance companies have worked hard to get approvals for during this respiratory crisis,” Baird- Berry said.
Doctors and primary care physicians can fax this information to ROTECH when oxygen and respiratory treatment are needed.
ROTECH has a respiratory therapist on staff and certified medical technicians for all set ups; plus 24/7 on call service technicians.

During the Corona Virus outbreak ROTECH is following protocols to keep patients and employees safe. Patients are required to stop at the door and call for assistance to be let in. If a patient is showing symptoms, then they are asked to stay in their vehicle or at home and call the office for someone to come and take their information for screening and setup.
According to location manager and respiratory therapist Shan Ray, the public should follow CDC guidelines of social distancing and good hand washing techniques during the outbreak.
