Campbell County High School is announcing the replacement of Boys Basketball Coach Darrell Cox. Although CCHS is grateful to Darrell Cox for his years of service to our students and our community, this replacement is to move the team in a new direction and is, what we feel, the best decision for continued success of the boys basketball program. 1. Campbell County has much difficulty for years in their basketball program. They have several good coaches; however, the program has just not got going like it should. We have never had a boys or girls team to win the Regional Championship and only one girls team to make it to the State Tournament. I have never understood why we can’t make it with all the talent we have in this county. It is not just the coaches it comes to lack of motivation, dedication and desire to win from the boys and girls. I still am a die-hard cougar fan and always will be. I sincerely hope we can get this worked out so our kids can get the championship they deserve. What it will take is motivation, dedication, desire to win and consistent play game after game. Who it will take is the players. It may be up to the “Who” accomplishing the “What.” I don’t feel it necessarily lies in the coaches. Some it lies in the players. GO COUGARS GO!!! I AM WITH YOU ALL THE WAY, WIN OR LOSE.
