DUFF, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Anthony Mahar was on patrol in Duff when he noticed a man walking down the road. The man was coming from a house that had reportedly been getting vandalized.

Mahar spoke with the man asking him if he lived in the area. He allegedly said he lived about five minutes away. When Mahar asked if he had any weapons on him, he said he didn’t.  When Mahar attempted to pat him down to check for weapons, he started to reach for his waistline. He was told to stop reaching and leave his hand up, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Department. He continued to reach for his waist and was detained so Mahar could check him. During the pat down, Mahar felt something in the man’s pocket, who alleged it was his light.

When Mahar went to pull the light out of the man’s pocket, he found a small clear bag was wrapped up in the cable of the light. The bag had a clear crystal-like substance believed to be crystal meth in it. Two glass pipes were also found in his pocket.
