JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – A healthy gathering of family, friends, teammates and coaches gathered in the Campbell High Library this morning at 10 am to cheer on three college-bound Cougar football players.  On this National Signing Day, Daymon Seiber signed with Union College of Barbourville, Kentucky, while Chaz Duverney and Javan McCulley inked with Carson-Newman University at Jefferson City, Tennessee. Before any photos were snapped and scholarship papers signed, Campbell Cougar Head Football Coach Justin Price told the audience that he had three thoughts he wanted to share with the players and their families.  Price said, “Stay committed.  Stay self motivated and continue to let your light shine.”

Price explained to the trio that they are three of the most committed players to ever wear the Orange-n-Blue.  He emphasized that at this next level it’s self motivation, what you have inside you, that you must keep going.  The coach said, “Shine your light on everyone you come in contact with; players, coaches and all others.”

“Parents, you have trusted us with your sons.  And I thank you for that,” said Price.

Coach Chris Honeycutt, who starred at Campbell and the University of the Cumberlands for a total of eight seasons, told the three now former Cougars that he was proud of them and for them to be proud of what they’re doing.  “Very few football players get this opportunity to sign to play college football.  Even fewer follow through,” said Honeycutt.

The charge from Coach Honeycutt was to stay hungry.  He said, “Be in that elite group that plays college football for four seasons and walks off campus with your diploma.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/05/2020-10:45AM-PHOTO COURTESY OF WLAF’S JOSH PARKER))
