LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The City of LaFollette is working on a way to track its citizen complaints. Councilman Mark Hoskins requested recently that City Administrator Jimmy Jeffries work on a system to track the complaints. Jeffries presented a form at last night’s monthly workshop that offered a possible solution to the problem. Council members discussed some minor changes they would like to make to the form and agreed to continue working on it.

On next week’s agenda will be the fire chief position.  Fire Chief Charles Eldridge will retire on Friday after 34 years of service. Councilman Lonnie “Hot Rod” Wilson told Eldridge “it’s been a privilege to work with you”.  Eldridge told the council “it’s (referencing his job) went full circle with me, Councilman Bill Archer was on council when Eldridge was hired full time and now when he retires. The council will discuss how it wishes to proceed with finding his replacement at the regular monthly meeting.

Other items to be discussed next week are Comcast’s franchise agreement with the city.  Also coming up for next Tuesday’s meeting is the approval of an additional $25,000 from the LaFollette E911 district to increase the total reimbursement to the city for dispatcher salaries from $101,000 to $126,000.

Resolution 2020-03 to apply for Community Development Block Grant funds for sewer system improvements program is expected to be on the February regular meeting agenda.

The council is looking at purchasing some additional property near the street department on North Massachusetts Avenue. The city would like to purchase the 1.5 acres owned by Vinnie Loy; the property is appraised at $147,000.  Presently the city has a shed that is on a very small portion of the property.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/28/2020-6AM)
