Hack Ayers served as state representative from 1967 to 1968.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Local legend Haskel “Hack” Ayers has died.    Hack, as he was always known, died around 4:30 pm Wednesday afternoon.

Ayers, who would have turned 84 next month, was the quintessential representative of Campbell County.  He was quick to share a funny story about growing up and living in Campbell County.  He was also the keeper of countless historical and memorable photos of Campbell Countians.

  1. I always enjoyed my time talking to Hack when I stayed at the Hampton Inn . He will be greatly missed by many . Condolences to his Family and Community . Rest In Peace Sir .

  3. So sorry to hear this. I went to church with Hack & Tomi, he took a special interest in my ministry from the time I was a teen. Rest in peace, Brother.

  4. I cant imagine Campbell County without Hack Ayers. He was a role model and mentor to many. Hack will be missed. Prayers to his family!

  5. I can remember Hack back in the early 1950’s. During the 1950’s my mother worked for the Ayers family and Hack would give her a ride home after work. She loved Hack and R.L.

  6. I remember when Hack sold my home, when I moved to Florida, 1991. He was a wonderful person, and he and his wife were great friends to my Mommy and Daddy, Everett and Evelyn Huddleston. He will be greatly missed. LaFollette will not be the same without him. May God bless and comfort his family.

  8. I grew up knowing Hack & went to school with his daughter( Debbie). My husband & I stay at his HAMPTON INN. Last trip in we had breakfast with him as he told his stories. To his family, you all are in our PRAYERS.

  9. What a legend! And great friend to our family. Hack was the first to welcome us to Tennessee back in 1986 and invite us to church soon after our arrival. We enjoyed his stories and the friendship our families have shared for many years now. Never an arrogance about him, and what a testimony his life was of God’s grace! Always a respectable, pleasant person who was a joy to be around! Love and prayers to Tomi, the girls and their families and the many relatives and countless people honored with his friendship.   10. We never made a trip to LaFollette that my kids did not ask “Are we going to get to visit with cousin Hack?” That was one of the highlights of the trip.
