Newly appointed Jacksboro Chief of Police Jeremy Goins graduated from the TBI’s Leadership Academy in 2015.

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Jacksboro has its first new chief of police in more than 22-years.  On Friday afternoon, in a special called meeting, the Jacksboro Mayor and Board of Aldermen voted 3 to 1, with one abstaining, for Jeremy Goins to become its next chief of police. 

Goins was a JPD officer early in his career and is currently the Chief Deputy for the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office.  Sheriff Robbie Goins said, “Jeremy’s fulfilling his life long dream, and he told me that he would only leave the sheriff’s office for one job; this one.”

It’s not been announced when Jeremy Goins will assume his new post.  He was not able to attend today’s special called meeting, and as of this writing, he is yet to be officially been notified that he is the chief.

“I’m happy for him and look forward to working with him like we did with Chief (Danny) Chapman.  He’s been a good employee at the sheriff’s department, worked well with everyone and the whole staff thinks a lot of him.  We wish him the best,” said Sheriff Goins.
