LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – The ole radio station WLAF has lost one of its biggest supporters.  Scott Lindsay of Lindsay’s Carpet and Paint Center has lost a great friend and employee.  For County Trustee Monty Bullock, it’s the loss of his truest friend.  Randy McGlone passed away on Monday morning at his Camp Ridge home.

“He fought it,” said Bullock.  He’s talking about the cancer that was discovered in McGlone’s body last year.  “Doctors said he wouldn’t live past September, but he was a fighter,” added Bullock.

McGlone worked at Lindsay’s Carpet and Paint Center for years.  Lindsay called Mac a great friend and employee.  “I knew I could always count on him for anything,” he said.

One time, there was a problem with a door jam at WLAF.  So much, in fact, that it caused a person to fall.  Randy heard about it and was there the next morning taking care of the problem.  In typical McGlone fashion, he wouldn’t take a dime.  “It’s untelling what all he’s done for people,” said Bullock.

This is a shadow box that Bullock created to honor McGlone.  The pliers and knife are a couple of Randy’s tools.  The pliers were used to help put up Bullock election signs every campaign season.

McGlone and Bullock first met when they ran into each other during the 2002 election season.  Bullock said, “He told me to put up two election signs in his yard, and the friendship took off from there.  Randy was probably the truest friend I’ve ever had.  He was very special to me.”

For the WLAF Christmas lunch in 2018, McGlone would not hear of it until he did all the cooking for the event.  “I want to do this for y’all.  Don’t worry about it.  I love doing this,” said Mac.

Every election since that meeting in 2002, McGlone has been right there with Bullock six days a week on the campaign trail.  “He was always there waiting for me at the end of the work day ready to put up signs and knock doors,” said Bullock.

“He will definitely be missed!!,” said Lindsay.

Randy McGlone was 63-years old.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/24/2019-6AM)

  1. I remember Randy McClone as a Master Float Builder. When Duff Baptist Church entered a Float in the Christmas Parade, the Floats, always headed by Randy were simply fantastic, and I always referred to him as a “Master Float
Builder”, and he was. You could call him for anything, and if he could not do it, he could and would, point you to
someone of quality who could help you. Randy McClone was a Christian gentleman, and he will be missed by all
of us knew him and loved him. Heaven is richer today, and we on Earth are poorer because he is not here.
