This morning, JR Kitts will take time away from work and cancer treatments for a special honor.

LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – “Now remember.  I’ve got a treatment I need to get to Wednesday morning,” JR Kitts said after his granddaughter Jaylynn told him when the ceremony declaring Dec. 4 “JR Kitts Day” in La Follette would take place.Wednesday is “Paint the Town Blue for JR Day.”  Today at 10 am at JR’s Tires and Used Cars, City of La Follette Mayor Mike Stanfield will proclaim the day as “JR Kitts Day” in La Follette.  Longtime local businessman JR Kitts is battling cancer, and Kitts granddaughter, Jaylynn, came up with the idea to paint the town blue for her grandfather during his journey.

Before it was cleared with JR, the younger Kitts said, “I’m sure he’ll be good with it (and he was).”  What makes the day even more special is that Dec. 4 is JR’s mother’s birthday.
