LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – As drivers regularly navigate their vehicles through the construction zone of the Central Avenue Bridge refurbishment project, it doesn’t appear as if any progress is being made.  But it is. It just can’t be seen from on top of the bridge.   Once the pavement was removed from the east bound side of the bridge, there’s been little, if any, more work done on top.  However, to see where improvements have been taking place, all that is needed is to  look under the almost 100-year structure.

The SCI crew (Southern Constructors Incorporated), based out of Knoxville, is making repairs on the underside to the aged and damaged sections. Most of the work is done on scaffolding, because it’s much higher under the bridge that one would think.

There is still more work to be done under the bridge.
