Douglas was to have been honored today

Adult children of Clifford Douglas (not in order of photograph) are Gail Douglas Garrett, Michael Douglas, Phyllis Douglas Stiner, Davey Douglas and Tony Douglas.

JELLICO, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County World War II Veteran Clifford Douglas was to have been recognized today at the Jellico Veterans Park at the Veterans Day ceremony.  However, the 95-year -old veteran educator and administrator died on Nov. 1.

Douglas was an MP according in Berlin according to Kevin Walden, Director of the Campbell County Veteran Services Office.  After the war, Douglas was a teacher at Primroy, Morley, Wynn-Habersham; was principal at Jellico Elementary and principal at Campbell County High School.

He was the first principal at the then new Campbell County High School in 1975.   Douglas, who retired as principal on his birthday Sept. 27, 1988, was the longest serving principal in the school’s 45 year history.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/11/2019-6AM)
