‘We’ve had a good collection’ – Monty Bullock

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – The two percent discount for paying property taxes by close of business on Nov. 5 has come and gone.  Collections have been good according to Campbell County Trustee Monty Bullock.Bullock said, “We’ve collected 52 percent of the county property tax base already.”  He credits the discount for the early payments.  However, Bullock points at the new homes and refinanced homes for making a big difference.  He said the mortgage companies are now building the property taxes into the mortgage amount.  Mortgage companies pay in October, because, by law, they must pay the lowest rate; which the discount affords.
