NEWCOMB, TN (WLAF) – On Monday night, Deputy Dakota Williams was on Highway 297 taking radar when he noticed a maroon Chevy Impala, driven by Jeffrey Allen Dople pass him traveling at 45 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Williams attempted to stop the vehicle, but Dople continued traveling at a high rate of speed. During this time, he noticed the car had a passenger side brake light out. Williams lost contact with the car, and Deputy Raymond Surber joined the search for the vehicle at this point.

Surber was able to locate the Impala at 706 Wooldridge Lane where Dople was backing the car into the driveway. Surber saw Dople get out and go inside the residence. When Surber got to the driveway Dople’s passenger was standing in the yard. He told Surber that Dople wouldn’t stop, because he had a warrant and he was afraid to go to jail. The passenger continued that he was screaming at Dople to just stop the car, but he wouldn’t.

According to a report from the sheriff’s department, Williams could see Dople through the window of the home. Surber was communicating with Dople through the front door of the house which was closed. Dople allegedly told him he had a gun and was going to shoot himself. Surber was able to make contact by phone when Dople allegedly said he just wanted to pray with his mother, then he would come out and surrender.

About three to five minutes later Dople opened the front door and was placed into custody without incident. He allegedly told  Surber that he never had a gun and was just trying to get the officers to leave him alone.

Dople, 47, 706 Wooldridge Lane, Newcomb is charged with felony evading arrest, reckless endangerment, reckless driving, violation light law, drivers to exercise due care, speeding and violation of probation (criminal court). (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 10/17/19 6 AM)
