JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – Until Saturday, Darlene Arnn (above) had never sat behind the wheel of husband Mike’s ’68 GTX.  And then, it was only long enough for a photo opp.  It’s all in good fun, because Mike’s never let anyone else drive his baby except their daughter. Of Mike’s classic cars, the 1968 Plymouth GTX is his favorite.  He totally restored it, painted it Chrysler’s B5 Blue without the metallic and has had it since 1991.  “I call it a fancy roadrunner,” said Mike.

On pretty days, he’ll drive it.  Otherwise, it’s tucked away in his pole barn in the Anderson County community of Dutch Valley.  “It’s probably my favorite vehicle.  I’ve got it and a ’73 Plymouth ‘Cuda,” said Mike.

The Arnns have been to the LA CruizersOpen Car Show four times now.  What motivated them to come this year’s show?  ” Mike shot back without hesitation, “no chance of rain.” He added, “I don’t like for the GTX to get wet, if I can help, only when I give it a sponge bath.”

Mike noted about the LA Cruizers Open Show,  “There’s always beautiful cars here, and there’s a lot of country people here, and I’m a country person myself.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 09/23/2019-6AM)
