PIONEER, TN (WLAF) – An officer sees woman twice in four hours, and this ended in her arrest.

Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Gross went to Highway 297 on Aug. 28 around 6 am in response to a call about a woman walking down the road. When Gross came in contact with the woman, he asked her why she was walking down the road and she allegedly said “just to walk down the road.”

At this point, Gross realized he had spoken to the woman, who was identified as Valerie Joann Long, at 2 am, four hours prior, and she said she was just taking a walk down the road. Gross then asked if she had been walking since the last time, he saw her, and she allegedly said she had and asked what time it was.

When Long was asked if she had taken anything, she allegedly said “no.” Long was talking with slurred and delayed speech, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.
