LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Sergeant Joe Hopson (Above) was in the right place at the right time with the right remedy.  As a result, Willard Young is alive today.

When Hopson made it to Young’s Frontier Road home (CORRECTION:  Hopson was called to Grave Yard Point)  on Tuesday,, he found Young unresponsive and in convulsions due to an aparant overdose.  The Sarge quickly assessed Young’s situation and administered NARCAN.  It is an opioid antagonist used for the complete or partial reversal of an opioid overdose.  Within a few minutes after the injection, Young became alert and responsive.

Sheriff Robbie Goins said, “NARCAN is something we hope to never use, but we are glad to have it for this type of situation.”  Goins made it a priority to make sure all of his deputies are certified to carry and administer the life saving drug.  “That certification came earlier this year and saved its first  life in Mr. Young’s this week.” (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED 08/08/2019-PM)
