LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy Cody Douglas responded to a complaint on July 25 about a man wearing khaki shorts and an orange t-shirt being on property where he wasn’t supposed to be.

When Douglas arrived, he saw the man walking across the road into the grass at 320 College Park Road and saw him kneel at a fence line pulling grass from the ground.

Douglas approached the man and noticed he had blood shot eyes, fixed pinpoint pupils and was having issues with his balance. He also had his shirt on inside out and backwards, he also had a scratch on his eye and bruises that he stated were from a fight the night before, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

The man appeared allegedly  to be under the influence of a controlled substance and allegedly said he had shot up some morphine about four hours prior and took a Xanax the night before. While Douglas was patting the man down he allegedly found a syringe in his pocket. He was taken into custody for his safety and the safety of others and transported to the Campbell County Jail. He didn’t have identification at the time of the arrest and told Douglas that his name that was later proved to be fake, gave him a date of birth and said he did not know his Social Security number. While he was being booked into jail, it was discovered that he was Benjamin Aaron Watkins.
