Auctioneer David Longmire is auctioning a 2009 Nissan this time around saying “Every hand should be up.”

JACKSBORO, TN (WLAF) – “If you’re gonna bid, you don’t have time to ask ye wife and discuss it too much.  ‘Cause we’re gonna mow right through this stuff here,” announced auctioneer David Longmire.  VERY TOP PHOTO:  A decent sized crowd gathered around at the  Campbell County Highway Department

Longmire and his Longmire Realty and Auction staff conducted both of Saturday’s county auctions; one at the county garage under a very warm morning sun and the other after lunch inside the courthouse.

Sheriff Robbie Goins (orange shirt) had an up close spot at Saturday’s auction.

At 10 am on Saturday morning, on the tailgate of his tan pick-up truck, Longmire addressed a good sized crowd of bidders and onlookers saying, ” We want to thank you for coming.  We know it’s hot.  We’re not gonna tarry long here.  Oh, and one last thing.  If I don’t see you biddin’, yell or throw something.  We don’t wanna miss any bids here.”

Longmire shared the order of the sale.  He said, “We’re gonna start with that tractor back there first and sell those two dump trucks, and then we’re gonna come right down this first row go right back through the second row and then finish up through the last row there.”

With the black microphone up snug on his bottom lip, Longmire said, ” We’re gonna start out with lot number 32.  It’s a little 950 John Deere tractor.  I talked to Ron Dilbeck (road superintendent).  He said that lil’ tractor runs good and has a sweeper on the back of it.”

Longmire shields the sun as he looks for a bidder.

Longmire was ready to auction the first item announcing “I’m ready for an opening bid.  Whatta ya wanna give?”  His chant began, ” Start it out and what do I hear – whatta ya pay for it?  2,500 and go!  I’ve got 500, and we’re gone.  Thousand dollars.  600.  Seven.  Eight.  Now nine.  John Deere Tractor.  Whatta talkin’ about here.  900.  Now a thousand dollars.  Now eleven-hundred.  Ye able to bid?  Every hand out here oughta be up!  I’ve got 11.  Now 12.  Twelve hundred.  Half.  Now 11 and a half.  I’ve got 11 1/2 over here.  Twelve-hundred dollars.  Any advance.  We’re goin’ to the bank.  Anybody else?  That sweeper’s worth more than that much!  Thank you, partner.  Now 12 1/2.  12-fifty.  Down we go!  Sold!  Right over here $1,200.  Bidder number 11.

“Sold!”  Longmire shouts and points to the winning bidder.

And so it went.  After the morning auction for the 8th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Campbell County Sheriff’s Department, Campbell County Highway Department, Campbell County Mayor’s Office, Campbell County Sanitation Department, City of La Follette and City of Jacksboro, there was an afternoon auction.  The 2:30 pm auction was a coin auction for Sheriff Robbie Goins and the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.

Longmire said, “It brought more than I thought it would.  About $70,000 worth of stuff sold.”  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/29/2019-6AM)
