LAFOLLETTE, TN (WLAF) – Heavy rains triggered a rock and mud slide on I-75 north  in Campbell County at Mile Marker 143 on July 11.    The slide is at the same area of a major slide that happened in 2016.  Since the latest slide, work has been being done to shore up the area.  This week’s lane closure and other events during the day have jammed northbound travelers all the way back into Anderson County at times and sent the overflow through Vasper, Caryville, Jacksboro and La Follette.  Expect much the same again today, because according to TDOT SmartWay Traffic, one northbound lane remains closed for repairs.  TDOT also indicates  the work will be completed by around 8 pm tonight (Friday).  There are no delays on the southbound side.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/19/2019-6AM-PHOTOS COURTESY OF WLAF’S CHARLIE HUTSON)
