LAFOLLETTE, TN  (WLAF) –  It was a quick moving storm not long before midnight on Friday night and another storm about 12-hours later in the mid-day on Saturday that took a toll on thousands of La Follette Utility Board customers.    By the wee hours of Saturday morning, more than 6,000 customers were in the dark as a result of the storm damage.  As of 3 pm Sunday, all LUB customers were back online.

LUB General Manager Kenny Baird said, “If we can do a 48-hour turn-a-round from start to finish, that won’t be too bad considering the amount of damage.  However, I’m sure those still without power would disagree.”

“There have not been any easy fixes,” Baird adds.  There were broken poles and trees down everywhere from Friday night’s storms, and Saturday’s heavy rainfall and storm event did not help.  He points out that this weekend’s storms took much more of a toll on the utility system than the storms and flooding did two weeks ago when 3,500 customers were affected.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 06/23/2019-8:30AM-UPDATED 11:15AM-UPDATED 1:30PM-UPDATED 3:30 PM))
