LAFOLLETTE, TN  (WLAF) – Just before the lake access near Millers Bridge on Old Middlesboro Highway on May 22, Campbell County Sheriff’s Deputy John Minor noticed a vehicle with a headlight not working.    He stopped the vehicle driven by Alexander Robert Miller and allegedly noticed a strong smell of alcohol and marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Minor asked the man about the smells and he allegedly said he had drank earlier in the day and had smoked some CBD earlier in the day, according to a report from the sheriff’s department.

At this point, Minor asked Miller if he had ever had a head injury and he said that he had suffered several concussions. Next, he was asked if he would have trouble walking a straight line.  Miller responded that he had several injuries that would hinder his performance. Minor asked if he would count or recite the alphabet and he allegedly said that he had dyslexia as well as mild mental retardation that may affect his ability. Miller was then asked if he would complete the test and pass, he allegedly said yes.

After he was taken into custody, he told Minor that he had CBD under his seat. Minor found a clear bag containing a green leafy substance believed to be marijuana from under the driver seat. Also found was a silver scale that Miller allegedly said he used to weigh the substance.

Miller, 21, 840 Old Middlesboro Hwy, LaFollette is charged with violation light law, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under influence (DUI), possession of schedule VI-controlled substance.
