State Representative Dennis Powers (top photo) just contacted WLAF to announced that HB 70 – The Virtual Public Schools Act passed this morning.     HB 70 accommodates students with disabilities, physical limitations, bullying, etc., – students who may not perfectly match zoned public schools or for whatever reason have to be taken out of their schools.  Powers explains that virtual schools provide an effective and safe learning environment for students and an option for parents who choose a virtual education program.

Powers was the primary sponsor of the bill.  Senator Dolores Gresham, chair of the Senate Education committee, was the sponsor in the senate.

It now goes to the Governor for his signature.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/23/2019-11:30AM)
