Lula J. (Petrey) Bush
Age 80 of Pekin, Indiana passed away peacefully in her sleep April 13, 2019 at Meadow View Health Care Center in Salem. Born January 12, 1939 in Jellico, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Joseph and Thelma (Adkins) Petrey.
Growing up in Tennessee, she graduated from Cumberland College with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She accepted her first teaching position at Borden, Indiana and relocated to Washington County. She met Cleon Ray Bush Jr. at church in Pekin. They were married on June 8, 1968. Lula became a farmer’s wife and assumed many duties that came with that position. She continued to teach at East Washington School Corp. for many years. Lula and Cleon Ray were blessed with a daughter, Jennifer Carol born March 1, 1972. The family were all members of the South Liberty Church of Christ. Lula was a great cook which was very much enjoyed by her family and her dishes were always a great hit at church dinners. She enjoyed literature and doing word puzzles. She was a life long collector of beautiful dolls, she loved to shop and never passed up an opportunity to engage in that activity.
Lula was devastated to lose her husband Cleon Ray in 2001 and then her daughter Jennifer in 2011. She also was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Joseph Petrey and 2 sisters: Peggy Russell and Patsy Petrey.
Survivors include: 2 grandchildren, Dylan and Madison Foster; a sister Irma Clifton a niece Kasee Laster of Athens, GA; 2 nephews: Jim Petrey and Greg Russell; Sisters in Law: Connie Young, Irene Corn, Vicki Williams, June Peterson, Deanna Mosley, Jewell Bruner and Jean Wilson. A brother in law Don Bush and his wife Sonya all living in Indiana.
She is also survived by: Several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews who grew up around Lula, helping with the Bush farming operations, her extended family at Meadow View with many thanks for years of care and her good friends Lisa Voyles and Joyce Temple.

Funeral Services will be held Wednesday April 17, at 2:00 pm at Dawalt Funeral Home with a short visitation from 11:00 to 2:00pm

She will be laid to rest at Martinsburg Cemetery with her husband Cleon Ray Jr. and Daughter Jennifer Foster immediately after the service.
