Don’t fall for Criminal Court Clerk Office “spoof”

Someone is playing what could end up being a costly “spoof” using the telephone number to Campbell County Criminal Court Clerk Bobby Vann’s office.  Vann tells WLAF  his office has had more than 100 calls today wanting to verify if the clerk’s office has called them.

It begins with the clerk’s office’s telephone number of 423.562.2624 showing up with the name of the caller as either Campbell County Government or Criminal Court Clerk.  The caller says that a grandson needs money wired to him.  It appears the call is originating from outside Tennessee, Vann said.

“The best bet is to just hang up, and if you have doubt, call my office,” said Vann. He said his office does not make phone calls or requests of this nature.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 04/04/4019-5PM)
