‘She is a wonderful gift’ – Regina Witt Branam

It’s not every girl who gets a real live baby doll for her first birthday.  But that was the case for Regina Witt Branam on March 7, 1973, the day her little sis, Melissa Witt Rucker, came into the world.

“I had counted up to April 14 for my due date, but I guess I was off a little,” said Jean Morgan, the girls’ mother.  So, Melissa came into the world exactly one-year to the day of Regina.  The sisters were born at the then La Follette Community Hospital.

All the way through school, even into high school at Campbell High, many people thought the girls were twins.  Jean adds that she pretty much raised the girls as twins.

“It’s wonderful to have her as my sister,” Regina said.

Regina is 47 today while Melissa turns 46.  The girls, who grew up in La Follette. still live in La Follette.
