In a steady downpour of rain, firefighters with the La Follette Fire Department are fighting a fire at this hour (noon hour).  The 700 block of West Hemlock Street, near the old laundromat, will be closed off for another 20-minutes or so.  LFD Assistant Chief Jimmy Pack tells WLAF that the fire is contained to a large out building though some of the heat and flames caused minor damage to the home that sits next to the building.  Pack adds that rain coming down like this has been a big hindrance to their efforts.

Pack says one person from a nearby home was taken to the La Follette Medical Center suffering from burns.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 02/23/2019-12:45PM – PHOTOS COURTESY OF LFD ASSISTANT CHIEF JIMMY PACK)
