After the rush of about one basketball game every other day for 40 some odd days and a holiday break, the Campbell County Cougars and Lady Cougars are set to resume their 2018-2019 season tonight at Powell.   The 17 & 2 and district leading Lady Cougars begin the fun in a 6 pm game followed by the Cougars-n-Panthers around 7:30 pm.

The Powell Lady Panthers are 12 & 3 with a 4 & 1 mark in the league and last played on the same date, December 29, as the Lady Cougars did.  In that outing, Powell defeated Fulton 46 to 32, and Campbell whipped Franklin County out of Kentucky 74 to 61.

In the first meeting of the season between CCHS and Powell, November 27 on the Lady Cougars home court, Campbell won in convincing fashion by a score of 75 to 53.  On the night, the Lady Cougars quickly jumped in front of the Lady Panthers at 19 to 5 as Madison Brady topped four double-digit scorers for the Lady Cougars. Brady’s 20-points were followed by 16 each from Skylar Boshears and Haley Comer as Emily Ellison had 11 (9 in the second half).  Blair Medley, Macey Monday and Myra Sexton scored four points apiece.

Campbell’s Cougars bring a 1 & 17 record into their game with Powell tonight at Hunter Gym.  The Panthers are 9 & 6 in all games and 4 & 2 in the district including a 60 to 44 win over CCHS on November 27 while the Cougars are 0 & 6 in district outings.

The last time out, the Cougars lost a tough one to Harriman, 51 to 44 on December 22.  Powell, on December 29, held off Cosby for a 62 to 59 victory.

Live radio and televised coverage of Campbell at Powell begins tonight at 6 pm with the Voice of the Cougars, Josh Parker, over the B & M Tires Sports Network.  That’s radio over WLAF-FM 100.9 and AM 1450 with the live telecast on 1450wlaf.com.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 01/08/2019-6AM)
