Mildred Loretha Petitt, age 86, of Jacksboro went home to be with her Lord and Savior on the evening of Christmas, Tuesday, December 25, 2018. Not knowing she would pass that day, her daughter, son, two granddaughters and son-in-law were given the opportunity to say goodbye and wish her a Merry Christmas, one last time.

Mildred was born, May 26, 1932 in Habersham, TN. At the age of fourteen, at a tent revival meeting, she put her trust in Jesus believing that He died on the cross for her sins and rose again.  She often said that her Bible was her most prized possession and she would often read eight chapters a day in her personal time with her Lord.

Mildred met and married Charles Petitt in Westborne, TN and had four children, Brenda, Gary, Larry and Lisa.  She served her family well as a homemaker and her church as a Sunday School teacher for approximately twenty years.  She loved the old hymns and would occasionally write songs of her own.  She loved children and enjoyed connecting with them on their level by playing games, reading books, and loving them unconditionally. She thoroughly enjoyed studying, learning and discussing the Bible with loved ones.  She also loved dessert, and when given a choice of two she would often say, “I choose both, as Winnie the Pooh would always say.” She was genuine and kind, but also assertive and strong willed.  It brings much comfort to her family knowing that she is now in the presence of Jesus.  She will be forever loved and greatly missed.

Preceded in death by mother, Nanny Thomas; brother, Wilbur; sister, Wanda and her son, Gary.
