Former City of LaFollette Vice Mayor Joe Bolinger is expected in court this morning.

In June, Bolinger, Jennifer Brown and Jimmie Ivey were charged with a myriad of crimes revolving around food stamp fraud and theft. Since that time, the case has been delayed at least twice.

The trio was charged after a spring bust in which the now defunct Pop Shop, once on the four lane in LaFollette, was raided by law enforcement. It was alleged that the people could use their food stamps to purchase items then sell the items to the Pop Shop for pennies on the dollar. Ivey was the only person charged with a narcotics crime.

Bolinger, who ran unsuccessfully to retain his LaFollette City Council seat despite the pending felonies, came in fourth in a six way race last month. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 12/17/2018-6AM)

  1. Hope the thief goes to jail.
But I forget this is Campbell County. Probably a slap on the hand.
Now you know why is was not reelected.

    1. Nothing will happen. There is no justice system. All the people that have “names” in Campbell County, their crimes get swept under the rug! Look at mr atty he has a violation of probation and he gets more time, and a “shame on you for violating and not keeping up with payments”! It has been proven that other people have their first violation of probation and they are off to prison! What is good for the goose should be good for the gander but that don’t work in the good ol’ CC…
Sorry for ranting on your thread Pete.

  2. I agree with previous comment. Just wait and see…no jail time, maybe a fine/restitution. Maybe probation(unsupervised), or judicial diversion: if he stays out of trouble, all will be dismissed. OR, another court date!!!!!!!! But, isn’t food stamp fraud a federal offense!?

  3. See!!!!!! Another court date!!!!! It never fails in Campbell County! Good ole boy system!!!!
