In a joint effort between the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department and the administration of the Campbell County High School, a “fleet sweep” was conducted Tuesday morning at the school.  Sargeant Josh Vann with the CCSD explains that the sweep began at 9:45 am and lasted for the next 90-minutes as nine officers and K9s checked  classrooms, exterior buildings and the parking lots.  School K9 Mya and her handler Deputy Wayne Barton along with CCSD K9 Santo and his handler Travis Bostic worked with officers from Clinton Police and the Knox County Sheriff.

Vann said, “Nothing turned up except a lot of contraband like Jewel Vape pens and tobacco products.  Teachers kept on teaching without any interuptions.”

Jellico High had it s”fleet sweep” back on October 23.  All that was found was a marijuana seed in a car in the parking lot.

K9 Mya is the school systems dog, and she is going whereever she’s needed throughout the county.  She is in  at least one school every day.  Her home school is White Oak School, because it is situated such that she can be just about anywhere in the county fairly quickly from that school. 1. I would think that being based at White Oak puts you as far away from every other school as possible

  2. Is nobody allowed to leave during this lockdown? If I had a kid at that school and the cops wouldn’t let me in to pick up him/her for a doctor appointment, or let us leave, I’d be seriously upset about this. I’m assuming this wasn’t announced ahead of time, or the cops wouldn’t have found the vape pens and tobacco. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t like drugs and if I had my way drug dealers would have their necks stretched by a hemp rope.
