Sherman Ballard, age 92 of LaFollette, passed away on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at his daughter’s house. He was born March 28, 1926 in Campbell County to the late Thomas and Mossie Boshears Ballard. Sherman was a retired dairy farmer and U.S. Army Veteran. He attended Whitman Hollow Baptist Church. Sherman loved to hunt, fish, and raise a garden. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather, who loved spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by wife, Zora Ballard; son, Roy Ballard; brothers, Tommy, James, Jack, Rose, and George Ballard; sisters, Helen Guriel, Theina Aversa, Grace Hatmaker, Ruby Willoughby, Callie Freeman, and Lille Mae Ballard.

Sherman is survived by his daughter, Sharon Gibson and husband, Paul of LaFollette; grandsons, Brian Gibson and wife, Connie of LaFollette and Sherman Gibson of LaFollette, great grandchildren, Eric Gibson and wife, Nikki and Michelle Watson and husband, Adam and Skylar Gibson, several other grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren and host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Visitation for Sherman will be Thursday, December 13, 2018 in the chapel of Martin Wilson Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM with his funeral service to follow at 1:00 PM with Rev. Hobert McCreary officiating. Interment will follow the funeral service at Bakers Forge Cemetery with military honors by the Campbell County Honor Guard.
