You’ve seen him lately like I have.  Walking and wearing the sandwich sign ; up and down the four-lane in La Follette.  No matter the weather the man in the sign is walking.

Tuesday, with wind chills in the 20s, Jack Brogdon was walking and hoping for someone to offer him work.  And even though he was dressed for the weather, staying warm was a challenge, just as finding work has been.

Brogdon walks everyday, even if he has a job that day, he still walks before or after looking for more work.

Right now, he and his wife live in a mobile home in Rocky Top.  For the two years before that, the couple lived in a  motel room.

While we visited with Brogdon in the IGA parking lot, he received a text from a former boss asking if he was busy on Tuesday.  Brogdon was encouraged by the possibility of working the next day.

The 49-year old Brogdon, who has raised three children, has plenty of landscaping, plumbing and electrical as well as demolition experience.

As the sign says, he’ll work for rent, food and/or gas.  Brogdon’s number is (865) 888-3966.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 11/27/2018-6AM)
