State Representative Dennis Powers (R-Jacksboro) on Monday received an endorsement from the Tennessee Police Benevolent Association as he seeks re-election in the 36th District State House Race.

The Tennessee Police Benevolent Association is designed to provide assistance and support for members of our local law enforcement communities and their families. This includes financial assistance for families of officers who are killed in the line of duty. The association also works to educate law enforcement members and their families about dangerous conditions like post-traumatic stress disorder, and offers resources to assist with suicide prevention.

As the son of a police officer (La Follette Police Chief Hugh Powers), Representative Powers has prioritized the needs of local and statewide law enforcement agencies throughout his time serving in our General Assembly.

“It is an incredible honor to receive the support and this endorsement from Tennessee’s law enforcement community as I seek to continue serving the citizens of our community,” said Representative Powers. “Our police officers and their families make extraordinary sacrifices each day in efforts to ensure that cities and towns across Tennessee remain safe. It is an honor to support these important groups, and I will continue to fight for them in the years ahead.”

The Tennessee Police Benevolent Association is a division of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association and is known as the voice of law enforcement officers. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/30/2018-6AM)

  1. Free ad, free ad! Hey Dennis I’m sure you will win but how about getting out and rubbing elbows with real everyday working people and find out what they would like you to be doing for them afterall it is the bottom half that pays for that office. Now that’s a concept.

  2. Ha! Yeah now-a-days seems ya see many at the ” pool room ” that ya sure didn’t see there in years past. Kinda the new spot for the new crew!

  3. Rex K.- Our district has 3 counties, 8 cities, 70,000 people and is 745 square miles. I am out everyday speaking with people of all backgrounds, while also working my insurance business because TN has part-time legislature. And no, it is not the “bottom half” that pays for that office – we all share equally because the TN government is funded by a sales tax, so we all pay at the pump an equal amount of our sales tax dollars. If you have an issue for me to address, I will be glad to meet with you if you will contact my Nashville office @615-741-3335 or email me at rep.dennis.powers@capitol.tn.gov. Thank you.
