James Leo Evans, age 86, of Caryville, was born September 28, 1932, and went home to be with the Lord on October 27, 2018. He was the son of James Oliver and Bessie Lindsay Evans. He was a member of Lakeview Baptist Church, serving as treasurer, deacon, and Sunday School teacher for many years. Preceding him in death were his parents, his sister Peggy Sweeney, and his brothers J.H. Kyle Evans and Audrey Evans.

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Marie Brantley Evans, daughter Linda (Lee) Heatherly, son Joe Evans, granddaughters Leslie (Kevin) Wilson and Lindsay (Joe) VanBebber, great grandchildren Hunter Wilson, Lauren and Rebecca VanBebber, and Bailey Wilson, brothers and sisters Geneva (Bob) Claiborne, George Eugene Evans, Joyce (Donald) Jones, Lucille (Robert) Smallwood, Texie (Bob) Winkle, LouAnn (Charles) Jones, Charles (Chase) Evans, Sherry (Allan) Cannon, Carolyn (Larry) Wilson, Michael (Mickey) (Sharon) Evans, and Benny (Rita) Evans, and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Family and friends will gather for interment at Evans Woods Cemetery at 11 AM on Tuesday.
Family will receive friends from 4 PM to 7 PM Monday at Lakeview Baptist Church, 1046 Bruce Gap Road, Caryville with a celebration of life to follow at 7 PM with Rev. Roger Stanley and Rev. Hobart McCreary officiating.
